In 2013, Iowa's 18 commercial casinos continued as major contributors to statewide economic strength. The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission recently announced the total economic impact of Iowa's commercial gaming sites topped $1 billion again last year. Four key factors comprise the criteria, which when combined together benefit citizens in every county. Each casino has shown its commitment to investing in Iowa and Iowans.

The 2013 Statement of Economic Impact shows how casinos created economic activity in four categories:
  • Salaries & Benefits: $277.3 million
  • Buy Iowa First: $228.2 million
  • Charitable Contributions: $81.9 million
  • Gaming Tax Revenue: $384.9 million
Gaming in Iowa continues to be a viable part of Iowa’s economy and adds value to the state’s entertainment and tourism industry--an impressive 87.6 percent of all possible products and services a casino needs are purchased from Iowa-based companies. For the past 23 years, their presence has provided long-term benefits to communities across the state!
