Can my organization apply for grant money even if our service area is outside a casino county?
For areas that do not have a casino, grants are awarded through the County Endowment and Endow Iowa program.  In July 2005, each of the eligible non-casino county foundations was finalized. The pro-rata share of gaming tax revenue (each received $63,600 in 2005, $66,000 in 2006, $77,000 in 2007, $131,000 in 2008, and $129,000 in 2009) is distributed in the fall. The guidelines and grant application forms are developed by the qualified community or county foundation board in each of the 85 non-casino counties. For the list of the contacts for each qualified community county foundation, along with the grant allocations, please download the 2008-2009 report, "Building Iowa Communities Through Philanthropy".

You can also receive more information and search for the community foundation in your area on the Iowa Community Foundations website.
